DR. HENRI' THOMPSON
Dr. Henri' Thompson is a teacher, small business owner, non-profit leader, and new kind of leader for Virginia that is committed to a basic principle of hope and resilience for all: keep going no matter what – compassionate words from Virginia State alum Reginald F. Lewis.
Inspired by opportunities to serve others and tackle tough challenges with new ideas,
Dr. Thompson worked in leadership positions at Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, Maryland State Retirement and Pension System, the U.S. House of Representatives Office of the Majority Whip, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in New York.

On Wall Street, he helped maintain the stability of the nation's banking system. On Main Street, he advocated for values that increased wages and provided economic opportunities for all. On Capitol Hill, he worked closely with local and state officials. In the classroom, students test scores increased, academic achievement gaps narrowed, and more students chose to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

In 2021 and 2022, Dr. Thompson led and organized the campaign that helped secure more than $9 million in bonuses for public school teachers and staff in Richmond.

An advocate for progressive values that create pathways for everyone to succeed, Henri’ is fighting policies that are working overtime to undermine climate change, civil rights, criminal justice reform, gun safety, health care, LGBTQ+ equality, public education, women's rights, and other issues.
Dr. Thompson earned a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate from Virginia State University. He currently serves on numerous boards and supports an array of community-based organizations that help move the Commonwealth forward.
